The ADATA XPG GAMMIX S70 uses the Innogrit IG5236 "Rainier" 8-channel NVMe 1.4 controller (12nm FinFET), paired with DDR4 DRAM buffering and typically Micron 3D TLC NAND. The drive is engineered to saturate PCIe 4.0 x4 bandwidth with an emphasis on high queue-depth performance and sustained sequential throughput. The original S70 features a terraced aluminum heatsink with a high Z-height that makes it incompatible with most laptops and the PlayStation 5 expansion slot, a limitation addressed by the later Blade revision. Early IG5236 firmware had stability issues that were largely mitigated by subsequent updates.
