SSD Description

The KLEVV CRAS C910 is a mid-range NVMe storage drive based on the Inogrit IG5220 "RainierQ" controller. It uses a DRAM-less design with Host Memory Buffer (HMB) to use a portion of system RAM for logical-to-physical mapping. The drive pairs the controller with high-density 3D TLC NAND, delivering performance above typical PCIe 3.0 limits while acting as a lower-power alternative to top-tier PCIe 4.0 drives. The CRAS C910 ships with a slim aluminum heatsink, but sustained write workloads can push controller temperatures close to throttling in poorly ventilated systems. At the 4000GB density, the pseudo-SLC cache can saturate during very large continuous transfers, after which write speeds drop to the native TLC rate and recovery can be slower than DRAM-equipped drives.

Hardware Alternatives

  • HP FX900 (Non-Pro): A direct hardware relative sharing the IG5220 controller and similar performance targets.
  • ADATA XPG Atom 50: Another IG5220 implementation with comparable throughput and HMB reliance.
  • Patriot P400: Functionally similar drive where firmware differences can affect random I/O performance.
