The Kingston FURY Renegade (PCIe 5.0 variant) uses the Phison PS5026-E26 controller paired with Micron’s 232-layer 3D TLC NAND running at a 2400 MT/s interface speed to saturate the PCIe 5.0 x4 bus. The drive includes a dedicated LPDDR4 DRAM cache to manage logical-to-physical mapping tables for high random I/O performance and consistent latency during extended transfers. Under load it generates significant thermal energy; passive motherboard heatspreaders are often insufficient and active cooling or a high-mass heatsink is required to prevent thermal throttling (typically around 80°C). The 4000GB density model also exhibits higher peak power consumption, requiring robust M.2 power delivery from the host system.
