The Corsair MP600 CORE MINI (2000GB) is built on the Phison PS5021-E21T controller, a quad-channel, DRAM-less architecture aimed at balancing power efficiency with PCIe 4.0 bandwidth in constrained physical environments. To achieve 2TB density in the M.2 2230 form factor, the drive uses high-density 3D QLC NAND—typically Micron’s 176-layer nodes—and relies on Host Memory Buffer (HMB) technology to offset the lack of onboard DRAM. This single-sided 2230 layout makes it a common aftermarket option for handheld gaming devices (Steam Deck, ASUS ROG Ally) and surface-mount laptops. Note that the QLC media results in a pronounced drop in sustained write performance once the dynamic pseudo-SLC cache is saturated (writes can fall to native QLC levels of approximately 100–300 MB/s), and thermal throttling can occur earlier than in 2280 equivalents if the host lacks adequate passive cooling.
