SSD Description
The Micron 2400 1000GB is a client-focused NVMe SSD aimed at OEM integration and notable for being the industry's first volume shipment of 176-layer QLC NAND. It is a DRAM-less design driven by the Silicon Motion SM2269XT controller and uses Host Memory Buffer (HMB) to offset QLC latency. The drive targets high-density storage in constrained footprints, follows PCIe 4.0 and NVMe 1.4 specifications, and prioritizes compactness over sustained throughput.
Key Specifications
- Interface: PCIe 4.0 x4 (NVMe 1.4)
- Sequential Speeds: 4500 MB/s Read, 3600 MB/s Write

- NAND Configuration: Micron 176-layer 3D QLC
- DRAM Cache: None (HMB Support)
- Endurance: 300 TBW
- Form Factor: M.2 2230 (Single-sided PCB)
- Security Features: TCG Opal 2.01, TCG Pyrite 2.01 support
Hardware Alternatives
- Solidigm P41 Plus: shares the Silicon Motion SM2269XT controller architecture but uses 144-layer QLC, leading to a similar performance tier with different firmware caching strategies.
- WD Black SN770M: Western Digital WD_BLACK SN770 1000GB: uses TLC (BiCS5) NAND instead of QLC, offering superior sustained write performance and higher endurance.
- Sabrent Rocket 2230 / Inland TN446: Sabrent Rocket 1000GB and Inland TN446 typically pair the Phison E21T controller with Micron 176-layer TLC NAND, providing lower latency and more consistent random I/O performance compared to QLC alternatives.
