SSD Description

The Biwin Black Opal X570 PRO uses the PCIe 5.0 x4 interface and the Phison PS5026-E26 8-channel controller (12nm) paired with Micron 232-layer 3D TLC NAND. It includes a dedicated LPDDR4/4X DRAM cache for low-latency translation layer operations aimed at heavy workstation or gaming workloads. The Phison E26 platform has higher power consumption and thermal output than previous Gen4 drives, so a substantial heatsink (the one provided by Biwin or a high-mass motherboard M.2 shield) is critical to avoid aggressive thermal throttling above 80°C. Early E26 revisions had Link State Power Management (L1.2) negotiation issues, but recent firmware updates on the PRO variants have largely resolved those behaviors.

Key Specifications

Hardware Alternatives

  • Crucial T700 1000GB: nearly identical hardware twin, utilizing the same Phison E26 controller and Micron 232-layer NAND; performance delta typically depends on thermal headroom
  • Corsair MP700 PRO: nearly identical hardware twin to the X570 PRO, utilizing the same Phison E26 controller and Micron 232-layer NAND; performance delta typically depends on thermal headroom
  • MSI Spatium M570 PRO: direct hardware relative where the primary differentiator is usually the stock cooling solution provided in the box rather than the underlying silicon
  • Samsung 990 PRO 1000GB: a generation behind in sequential throughput but a competitor for random 4K performance and power efficiency for users who do not require Gen5 sequential bandwidth
