Questions
Which AM4 CPUs have integrated graphics?
Only G and GT models, such as the 3200G, have integrated Radeon graphics. Other AM4 Ryzen CPUs need a graphics card.
Why do the Ryzen 5 5500 and Ryzen 7 5700 have less L3 cache?
They use the same chip as the 5600G and 5700G with the integrated graphics disabled. They have 16 MB of L3 cache and PCIe 3.0, against 32 MB and PCIe 4.0 on the 5600 and 5700X. PCIe 3.0 halves the bandwidth available to a PCIe 4.0 graphics card or SSD. The 5500 is $134 and the 5700 is $369.72.
What is the difference between the Ryzen 5 5600 and 5600X?
The 5600X has a rated boost clock of 4.6 GHz against 4.4 GHz. The 5600 is $179 and the 5600X is $219.
Does AM4 use DDR4 or DDR5?
DDR4 only. AM4 motherboards have DDR4 slots, and DDR5 kits do not fit. The DDR4 vs DDR5 guide compares the two.
Will a Ryzen 5000 CPU work in an older AM4 motherboard?
Motherboards with 400- and 500-series chipsets, such as the B450 and B550, support Ryzen 5000 CPUs after a BIOS update. Many 300-series boards, such as the B350 and X370, gained support in BIOS updates released in 2022. The board maker's CPU support list names the BIOS version each CPU needs.
