Overview

14-inch ultraportable business laptop

The X1 Carbon Gen 12 combines a light carbon-fibre and aluminium chassis with ThinkPad input controls. Its storage can be replaced, but RAM capacity is fixed at purchase.

  • Light chassis

A carbon-fibre lid and aluminium base bring the starting weight to 1.08 kg. PCMag found it lighter than the similarly sized Asus Zenbook 14 UX3405 (about 1.28 kg) and the smaller 13.6-inch Apple MacBook Air (about 1.22 kg).

  • TrackPoint control

The pointing stick provides cursor control close to the keyboard.

  • Replaceable drive

The M.2 2280 SSD can be replaced independently of the system board.

Enterprise management

Core Ultra 7 165U supports vPro Enterprise and Intel AMT remote management. This is a fleet-management capability that also needs a matching vPro system configuration; selecting the CPU alone is insufficient.
